Autodesk Animator codec
This is the Autodesk Animator Codec (AASC). You will note that the compression with this old and dated codec is that it is a 24-bit Run Length Encoding algorithm which is very similar to the Microsoft RLE. The AASC.AVI is compressed with the fourcc “AASC” which is the codec of the Autodesk Animator Studio Codec.
The development of the Autodesk Animator was created for editing computer animations with their software. The storage of the format is what was called the codec. This was a codec made to store their animations. This reduces the fiel size of the animation. This while it maintains the quality of the animation. Note also that this is another lossless codec. So no video quality is missed after compression. Reminds one of the CamStudio Lossless Codec as well as the Fraps Codec on here.
However having said this. The codec being that it is an old and outdated format. It is no longer used on a wife bases. There are now other codecs which do this much better. The more modern formats today are mainly the AVI, MOV, MP4, or GIF formats to store and display video animations. If you have an old animation file that was made in the Autodesk codec format. Now you will need to use a converter or a specialized software program to convert it to a more modern format. Finally this that can be opened and edited in today’s animation software programs. The Blizzard Decoder Filter is mainly meant for gaming software.
